Congratulations to All-Ireland winning ACC Public Speaking Team

Congratulations to Caroline Dowling, Aoife Coyle, Maggie Wallace and Bronwyn Reid-McDermott our senior Public Speaking Team, on recently becoming all-ireland winners of the Mental Health Ireland National Public Speaking Final

Congratulations to Caroline Dowling, Aoife Coyle, Maggie Wallace and Bronwyn Reid-McDermott our senior Public Speaking Team, on recently becoming all-ireland winners of the Mental Health Ireland National Public Speaking Final. Congratulations is also extented to the teams mentor and English Teacher Mr. Chris Forde.

The competition was held in Trinity College Dublin on Saturday 23rd of April. Athlone Community College defeated Coola Post-Primary School, Sligo and Colaiste Eoin, Carlow on the motion "Prosperity is a Shadow of the Past". 180 teams initially entered this national competition and the winning prize is a 5 day trip to Belgium.

Over 100 fellow students and teachers made the trip in support of the team and reported a "flawless" performance. Principal Eileen Donohoe proudly stated that "this win has once again shown that the status of Public Speaking and debating has reached an unprecedented level in our school".
