Congratulations to our Champions of the Concern Worldwide Schools Debate

For the third time in four years, Athlone Community College are the Irish Champions of the Concern Worldwide Schools Debate. The national final of 152 schools took place in UCD on thursday 13th May against Coláiste Chilliain, Clondalkin to an audience of 600 people.

The motion proposed was "As dust settles, Haiti can look forward to a brighter and better future". The prize for the four students isa visit to the Concern projects in Rwanda.

A big thank you to the 200 or so supporters including Deputy Mary O'Rourke and Senator Nicky McFadden. Principal Eileen Donohoe proudly stated that "this win has once again shown that the status of Public Speaking and debating has reached an unprecedented level in our school".
