Gavin excels in the BT Young Scientist Competition - 25 January 2010
Gavin Ward a transition year students at Athlone Community College secured third place in the Intermediate individual section of the BT Young Scientist Competition. Gavin addressed the topic – What causes stress and anxiety among teenagers? Gavin discovered that Teenagers get stressed at school and at home regularly, one in 3 students get bullied, many suffer in silence and one in 4 act out when stressed. Gavin investigated the causes and found that poor relationships, homework, certain subjects and bullying can all be factors in anxiety and suggested methods to enhance teenage emotional wellbeing.
