Former Student of Athlone Community College reflects on a story of success - 4th May 2010

Mr Michael Coughlan addressed 5th Year students
at Athlone Community College on the invitation of Ms. Angela Campbell,
Accounting and Business teacher at Athlone Community College.
On Tuesday, 23rd March 2010, Mr. Michéal Coughlan a former student of Athlone Community, visited the school and spoke to 5th Year Accounting and Business students about the world of Business. He spoke of his own education and his journey from a Leaving Certificate Accounting student to successful business entrepreneur.
He talked about his time in NUIG, receiving a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and later a Masters in Human Resource Management. After this he went on to become a junior HR Consultant for InterSearch Ireland in Cork and soon became HR Manager.
He spoke about business strategies and how business is structured and the importance of different departments in a business. He went on to stress the importance of setting yourself objectives in life to work towards.
He then spoke on how he branched out and opened his own intersearch branch in Athlone after seeing a niche in the market in the Midlands and the West. Intersearch is a recruitment agency which provides businesses with highly skilled managers and senior personnel.
He advised the students on the importance of choosing the right career path to ensure happiness. He stressed the importance of working hard and enjoying our College years.
His parting message was that students should choose a job they enjoy and thrive on the opportunities that come their way.
