Athlone Community College Parents Association

The Parents Association is a vital and long standing component of our College. It gives parents an opportunity to voice their opinions and ideas on the education of their children and issues within the school community. The Association is involved in the development of school policies that are ongoing. The Association has two representatives on the Board of Management of the School and also two representatives on Westmeath Vocational Educational Committee (VEC). The Association is represented at national level through participation with the National Parents Association for Vocational Schools and Community Colleges, (NPAVSCC). This gives our parents a strong voice at every level within the education system and ensures a strong voice for our parents into the future.

The Association also fosters in every way its social and cultural values into the fabric of the college. It also participates in fundraising activities for the school, and has been instrumental in helping to purchase many of the college's resources, such as the school bus, lockers etc. Parents are also involved in assisting with functions (information meetings, enrolment nights and social functions) within the college.
