TECHNICAL GRAPHICS


Technical Graphics is studied by Students to Junior Certificate Level; it is a real and living language - a language of industry, which affords a concise means of communication throughout the world. Technical drawing, available at Leaving Certificate level is an extension of Technical Graphics. Students who wish to pursue careers in Architecture, Engineering and Design will find that Technical Drawing provides an excellent foundation to develop spatial comprehension and design techniques. Students studying drawing are also given tuition in C.A.D. through the use of auto-sketch and autocad programmes.

ENGINEERING - Hands on approach



As a subject, Engineering involves a thorough insight into the elements of Workshop Technology and requires a knowledge of many related and contributory processes including: Design, Manufacture CAD/CAM Machining, Computers, Welding, Plastics, Testing of Materials, Analysis of Alloys and Equilibrium Diagrams, Pneumatics and C.N.C. programming.


CONSTRUCTION STUDIES



A college showing initiative in matters of gender balance has vision for the future. Each year Leaving Certificate Students present their furniture pieces and other items manufactured from wood for public viewing. An end of year award is presented to the creator of the best exhibit.

COMPUTER APPLICATIONS



'Our mission is to provide a modern and sophisticated information technology (I.T) environment in the College to effectively support teaching, learning, and all other forms of academic endeavor'.

The above is the Mission Statement for information Technology in our College. As Information Technology becomes an ever-increasing part of our everyday lives it is imperative for each student to expand their knowledge in the use of such technology.

During their first year each student will attend computer classes. These classes are designed to introduce our students to the basic concepts of computer application such as Word Processing' Spreadsheets, Database and using the Internet.
