Improvement targets
  • To collectively define the terms literacy and numeracy.
  • All subject departments will develop a subject specific literacy and numeracy statement and plan.
  • 30% of our students currently have an opportunity to use computers in class. We will aim to increase this to 50% over the three year period.
  • Teachers will plan, in a structured way, for the integration of ICT in their lessons and classroom activities.
Required actions
  • Hold a meeting of all staff to discuss what literacy and numeracy means to their subject and develop a whole school definition.
  • Subject departments will meet and this will be the only agenda item.
  • Encourage teachers to utilise available computer room.
  • Identify staff in-service through questionnaires which will determine in-service requirements.

Success criteria / measurable outcomes
  • All teachers have a clear understanding of the terms literacy and numeracy and the definitions will be displayed on the SSE Board in the staffroom.
  • Each subject folder will contain a literacy and numeracy statement and plan.
  • We will survey students again at the end of the academic year 2015-2016 to identify if this target has been met.
  • We will determine the level of increase in the number of teachers and students accessing the computer room to enhance teaching and learning.
