TY Enterprise – Dragons Den

Well done to transition year students Phillip Smullen, Christopher Hurley, Ann Curley and Melissa Maloney and their Business & Enterprise teacher Ms. Orla Barrett on receiving a Highly Recommended Certificate from the Westmeath County Enterprise Board when they entered the competition Dragons Den:

Handy Hanging: Phillip Smullen and Christopher Hurley for the idea of making holders for gloves, ties, and other small items of clothing.
Constillation Maps for Children: Ann Curley for the idea of making a children’s book which points out simple constellations and their meaning.
Hoodies: Melissa Maloney for the idea of Personalised Hoodies

Best of luck to Transition Year students Shane Lennon, Eoin Cunniffe and Gavin Ward with the guidance of the Science teacher Ms. Fiona Kelly who have recently qualified to enter the BT young Scientist competition 2010 with the following projects:

Project Title: “Daylight Robbery” (Shane Lennon and Eoin Cunniffe)
Eoin and Shane are investigating whether you are getting the volumes and masses that you pay for. They have confined their investigations to bottles of minerals and packets of crisps. Is the mass/volume of the item exactly what it states on the packet or bottle.

Project Title: “What causes stress and anxiety among teenagers?” (Gavin Ward)
Gavin is investigating by survey the main causes of stress and anxiety amongst teenagers and how they deal with it.
