| TY Students on tour of the Ericsson Facility |
All Transition Year students in our school had the fantastic opportunity of visiting Ericsson last Wednesday.
The day was very educational. The team in Ericsson welcomed the students warmly and set out an intensive plan for the day. Over the course of the day students had the opportunity to learn about careers relating to Ericsson, the subjects that were important with a particular emphasis on Maths.
The students had the opportunity to engage with workers there and gain an understanding of the work they do. They gained an insight into Genetic Algorithms, Binomial Combinations etc.
The importance of Maths was highlighted. The students also got the opportunity to take a tour of Ericsson which involved seeing some of the specialised equipment and a favourite with many-the tele conferencing room. They received an introduction to Cloud Computing which many students found particularly interesting. Overall it was a very enjoyable visit.
We are very thankful to all at Ericsson but especially to Ms Anne O' Connell for organising such a beneficial day.
